End of the Journey

So Monday marked the end of my journey to graduation. I am now a graduate of the University of Maryland. I am a college graduate out and about looking for a career. So this ends it. Join me in my next blog, Post-Graduation Life.

18 days til graduation

So this is the last bits of the semester. Only 18 days until I officially graduate from college, which I am looking forward to. However, things are not turning out great or as thought/planned. So I was not selected to become a police officer for Montgomery County, which is a bummer since it was my priority. Oh well, I guess I must keep looking for another agency. I am not doing too well in History of Poisons class. I need to work harder for the final exam. My group members in one class is super demanding. I'm sorry, but that is how I feel. I did my best with what they sent me but apparently it is not good enough. They told me that it was up to me and I did just as they told me. I don't know why they would get mad at me for following their directions. I just do not like it when people treat me like I don't know how to do anything. I did not want to be the leader of the group because everything will be on my head if something goes wrong. They treat me like I am a lazy bum. FYI: I have a life outside of school and I work the night shift. Also, I have other classes to worry about. I have papers due in other classes and not just this class. I have to put some effort into my other classes and not just all into this class. I admitted myself that I am not a politic people. I honestly do not care about political stuff. I worked hard on the fundraising part, that they asked me to do, and in the end, everything was completely thrown out and replaced by their stuff. Talk about not being fair. Also, I worked on the images and advertisement for weeks and again, was rejected and replaced. I know their trick. They are throwing out my part and replacing it with their stuff so they can say that I did not do anything and did not contribute to the project. I have exhausted my efforts in trying to satisfy them. I did everything I could to contribute to this project but I don't appreciate getting my stuff replaced after working hard on it.

Anyways, I better get back to writing up a profile for the candidate. Or maybe it going to get replaced with their much "better" (and boring) version. And I am going to continue to apply to other police agencies in hopes that one will select me.

Side note: Just because one door closed, it does not mean that it is the end of the line. If you truly believe in yourself, you will move forward.

One month left.

Almost there! I have a little over a month left but I'm almost there. So I've been sick lately and it feels like it not getting better. I am super excited that I am almost done and graduation is just around the corner. But I still have a lot of papers and projects to finish and exams to finish before I can graduate.

So other than school, I've been busy with post-school career stuff. Things are really looking good. I gotten a reply from both police agencies I applied at. Both really look good right now. I just hope to get into my first choice. I am so excited to get this and to be able to finally reach my goal. However, I feel like a bunch of people are jealous of this opportunity that I was given. I feel like some are ignoring me on purpose because I was able to find a job even before I graduate and that they have not. My family is happy and proud. Why am I feeling like this? I asked my references if they have filled out the form that was mailed to them about me. All I was told that some did not fill it out. I don't know if they just forgotten about it or maybe something else. I just hope no one is trying to sabotage this. I just want people to be happy about this and not jealous.

Other than that, work is not going too well. I just can't understand why people would want to bring drama into a workplace. I went to work last Tuesday to just get some stuff. I got scolded at by the MOD (whom I do not like) just for something I did. I made a mistake but I did not know about it until someone brings it up. I don't work in the jewelry department so can you blame me for something I don't know about? I did not take back that return on purpose. I just did my job and that was it. Then she decided to yell at me for that. She claimed that she went over this message with me. See, 1. I do not work Tuesdays, 2. I did not hear her review the message with me, 3. This memo was created the day before (Monday) by another supervisor and 4. I work Thursday through Sunday. So there's a problem right there. She only yelled at me to try to humiliate me and make herself look like the boss. She only made a fool of herself for that. She did not make herself better, she made herself look like an idiot. She should not have yelled at me on my day-off. She should have kept her mouth shut like the boss said. She just yelled at me for nothing. Her words does not apply to me when I'm not working. So the next time she does that stunt again, she'll be answering to HR. I can't take this crap anymore.

So enough of venting, I need to get back to paying attention to the teacher...

2 MONTHS!

So what happened between February 14th and today. Not much just the same old, same old. Midterms are this week and I'm just not that interested nor even care (though I should because it is my last semester). So the timeline is quickly approaching and yes there is only 2 months left in the semester. So right now, I am studying for my Anthropology midterm. The only class I seem to struggle in is History of Poison. It's a really interesting topic but I can't seem to have problems on my quizzes and midterm even though I read all of the readings.

Anyways, work-wise, I have been getting extremely annoyed by crazy customers. For the last week and a half, they have been mean, rude and a pain! They gotten angry over our location moving, and closing so that way we could transition into our new store. I am super excited that we moved but it have been stressful since we needed to open our doors today. I understand that they don't want to lose business and all but we have to do what we can do. It's not a bad idea to close our store for a day to set up our merchandises. It's a lot better than closing for a month to renovate a small theater and change company. Anyways, I LOVE the new store! It's GORGEOUS! My jaws dropped when I went inside (for the first time) Saturday. I just could not believe that we moved into our new location and everything is new and beautiful!

I better get back to studying for the midterm. I just hope it is not hard like my last one!

3 months left!

Ok, so I am trying to recover on what just happened. So I emailed my adviser on what class would she recommend for me to take. She emails back that there was a problem between my transcript and the tool we use to find out what class we need for graduation. So now I'm back on track and will be officially done at the end of this semester! This means I don't have to take summer classes after all! I cannot express how happy I am at this moment! I will be graduating in May and not over the summer! I am so glad I asked before I find out it was too late! Thank you adviser! She is very helpful in a lot of ways!

So aside from that, I have been working. First my hours were cut and now it have been increased to working 10 hours on Sunday. I liked the increase but it seems a little too stressful especially since I feel like I have taken over my sister's old position. I'm looking forward to the move to a new location however. I'm waiting for word on my background check for the new job (or career). I really look forward and hope to be the lucky ones who gets the job.

Anyways, I'm heading out for Valentine's Day with Daniel at IHOP. Not the most romantic place but it is within our budget!

4 months and counting...

I know it has been a while since I last published an entry. I have been super busy with school. I just finished my winter course (three weeks of boredom). I learned a value lesson: Don't take communications if you're not majoring in that field. It was so confusing! I did not understand anything. But I'm glad it's all over. So my last day of winter break is today. Tomorrow I go back to Shady Grove and begin my final semester. While people may say that I wasted my winter break but what can u do if you want to graduate on time. I'm a little excited to start my spring semester but at the same time I am not looking forward for another couple of months of torture! Haha school is not torturing.

So I got an email from my counselor/adviser (she is super awesome and extremely nice and helpful!) and she said that anyone who is graduating in the summer may participate in Spring Graduation! She knew exactly what I was going to ask her! (That what makes her soo awesome!) So I will be graduating in the summer but I will be able to walk (for the first time!) with my class/department! I did not walk with my class during high school graduation because I was playing with the band. That email made my day!

In other stuff, I had such a wonderful and peaceful birthday this year! No cakes were dropped or harm this year. The only downside was the present Daniel bought me. It was defective and we couldn't get the money back. But we got a stuffed dragon instead from Build-A-Bear. It is soo cute!!! I love it as much as the sock monkey his friend got me.

Work, on the other hand, is more hectic! Yes I keep saying that over and over again. It is the customers who makes my work days hectic. I feel like they put me as the weekend head supervisor because I work only on the weekends and I am always stuck up front all weekend. I guess I am no longer a backup supervisor like I was hired as! I don't like being the front end supervisor because anything goes wrong is all on me! I basically replaced my sister's old position! The good thing is that I am able to run the front better than the other supervisor (except the one who replaced me as backup supervisor, I have not issues with her). And to add to it, I am the only supervisor who only had one hour to train versus two weeks!

So I'll be leaving you for now. I have just ran out of things to say. I guess I'll see you next month (or maybe in a few weeks).

5 months or 7 months

So generally speaking, I was suppose to have five months left until I graduate. When I went to talk to my adviser, she told me I was one class away from graduating in the Spring. So according to her, I will not be graduating in May but in July. But I am not super upset about this b/c I wasn't aware that I was only one class away from graduating. I was going to risk it next semester but I could not exceed my maximum classes my head can handle. There's no way I am having a repeat of my second year. I did what I could and my adviser offered all the help that was possible. If it was my old adviser, I would have been screwed over. If only I knew about this last semester, I would have pushed it this semester by taking 5 classes but the old adviser did not provide too much help. I am, however, not pleased to hear that. I haven't been able to tell my parents about it. I know they will not approve of this but like I said, I did what I could and my adviser did what she could. It is only for one more month and no more. No matter what, if she said one more month, then one more month and only one more class. PERIOD.

So aside from all of that, I have been working endlessly. I understand that it is the holiday season but my hours are a little ridiculous! I am a full-time student and a part-time employee but I am working 9-10 hours a day! I won't be complaining if I was working at my career choice but I am not yet there. Yes, I may have 3 days free but if you think about it, I only have one day to myself. I spend the other two days at school. I never complained about it until now. Right now, I'm focusing on school more b/c it is my final year. I need all the relaxation time I can get.

Ok, enough of the complaining. Now onto the great news, I have completed the second and third round of my police applicant. I have taken and (barely) passed the written test. I ended up getting rescheduled for my oral interview. Well, I went and had my oral interview earlier this month. I did pretty well and passed it. Now I'm just waiting for a background check. I hope by the next post, I should get the news.

So, I'm just going back to studying for my finals. Until then, later...YEA! Patriots beat the Redskins! (Hahaha! I am in Redskins territory!)

6 months to go!

Note to self:

I only have 6 months until I finish with school. Please let the next 6 months run smoother than Phase 1 of the 6 months period. Please let Phase 2 be better and faster.

To my dear body:

I know I have not treated you well especially since I suffer from too much stress. Right now, I can feel your message. I can feel how difficult my breathing is right now. I am trying to relax!!!
____________________________________________________________________

Anyways, you probably see how it is. I have six months left until my school career is over and I will officially have a full-time job. I know in my last post, it have not been quite a month yet.

So what have happened since my last post? Well, I have been having emotional breakdowns and all have been happening at work. A lot of things have driven me to these breakdowns but mostly stress. I did not have any trouble 2 months ago with controlling my emotions but for some strange reason, I cracked.

Other than that, I have been busy with midterms (but they're over now) and homework. Nothing new is happening at school. Other than I probably did terrible at one of my midterms b/c I had a bad case of writers cramp...blown!

Outside of work and school, I have been busy with my drawings. I have yet to complete this one drawing and now there's dents and marks all over it. It took me about 2 weeks to finally put in the details and I am still working on outlining the details!

So I have nothing else to say. I'll by working on my police stuff. So looking forward to next Saturday!

Lucky number 7 months to go!

As of today, I have 7 months left til I graduate from college...yea lucky number 7!

So right now I'm waiting for my Forensic Psychology class to start. Today, my parents left for their 8 days trip to Beijing. So what has happened since September 7th? I submitted my application to the police and got an email back with the written examination date and I need to fill out a few more information. So super excited about this opportunity! I got super excited to the point I broke my dad's mug. I am hoping that I do get a passing score on my written exam and do well in everything else. I do want to start my career soon. I hope I can get into the academy by next summer.

Other than that, nothing significant happened at school. All I've been doing is studying and studying. However, I realized that I need 21 credits before I can graduate. So that's about 7 three-credit classes. There is no way I could do that in one semester. Well I can do that but I'm not having a repeat of 2008! So that means goodbye to winter vacation. :( Bummer! But that's what I have to do to reach for my goal.

Outside of school, it has been nothing but a boring life. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing significant happened.

As for work...I don't even want to talk about it! It's the same old, same old stuff going on since the summer.

For now, I must conclude because class is about to start and I need my full attention. Goodbye for now and see you in a month!

8 months to go...

8 more months until my anticipated graduation...

So school started...last week. It's my second day of class. So this semester, I'm taking 4 classes and going to school 2 days a week...My classes are jam packed on Mondays. I have only been to 2 classes of the 4. So what am I doing on my days off? Nothing...it has been raining for the past couple of days so there's nothing better to do. I have been drawing just random stuff and more stuff.

So what did I do on my week-long vacation? Drawing and coloring. And oh yea, I was working. I did not got anywhere interesting, I did not do anything that was interesting (unless you want to hear about going to work) and nothing in particular happened...well maybe the earthquake (which I completely missed) and the "hurricane". Why the quotation marks? It was called a hurricane but it wasn't a hurricane! It was more of wind and rain and that was it. Everyone was freaking out but it did not do any damage here.

So what's my stress level? Right now, it is at medium. I'm extremely stressed out at work followed by personal problems and to top it off, school. But lately, I feel relatively calm. But I think this is how it is when I start school. I start off not stressed and by the time mid-terms come, I'm pulling out all of my hair! However, I'm starting to have massive (or unbearable) headaches. Is this a good thing? I have no idea. These headaches are really becoming a bother because I can't sleep too well at night as these headaches are painful.

So far, I've been attempting to save my money. I'm hoping to have enough so I can buy a new and more stylish glasses frame. I've looked into other options to get books and the only best way is renting the books. I should have done this awhile ago so that way I don't have to buy all these books and in the end are being used as: paperweight, door stoppers, fillers for gaps between the night stand and dresser and defense mechanism. Lesson learned: If you are not going to need the book in the future, rent them rather than to buy them. It saves you the hassels of shopping for bargains and selling your books. Believe me, I have a bunch of books I wanted to sell away but they no longer use the books I bought therefore, no way to sell them back. Bummer!

Sleep, sleep and more sleep is what I really need. And my own place so I don't have to deal with the headaches from home. I just want a nice peaceful sleep without any interruption. And oh yea, do not call me stupid because it is getting on my last nerves.

Before concluding this entry, I must address a few things that are getting on my last nerves:

  • Calling stupid (in a negative way) I honestly do not care if you call me stupid in a funny, comical way, like when we are having fun.

  • Starting drama between me and whoever. I do not care for drama.

  • Who does not believe that I can be whoever I want to be. I need support.

  • False accusation. This end here and right now! Remember the saying, "Innocent until proven guilty."
If anyone (friends and non friends) does any of the listed above (especially the false accusation), you will not be associating with me any longer and if you are on Facebook, you will be defriended immediately!

So for now, I must return to reality and face life. And homework...*sigh*

9 more months...

9 months...until I officially graduate from college. What? What were you thinking? It's not that!

So what happened between the last time I posted thru today...school, school and more school. So I've been in school for the past month but in two weeks, I'll be done with summer school. Sadly, I only have a week for vacation. Then it is back to school for the fall semester...talk about bummer. School is fine but I think my brain is fried. I can't take it anymore. I need a vacation, my brain needs a vacation. I am trying my best in school but I'm having trouble concentrating.

Stress is a factor in my trouble with concentration. The stress from school, work and other personal problems have continued to build up inside me. I've struggle to sleep for the past 2 days and my stomach have been acting up. It feels like my stomach is rejecting the food. My body ache so I'm having a difficult time even trying to relax. I just need to take a break from everything. I need to relax but not be in so much pain. The bad stress continue to build and it is not leaving anytime soon. It's almost uncontrollable. The stress is going to take over my body and then it will be too late. I don't want the stress to control me. I want to control the stress. I can't think right. I have lost a lot of sleep and I cannot function correctly.

Aside from school, I've been working.

And oh yea, I went to Otakon the last weekend of July. Sorry to say, it was disappointing (well, at least in my opinion). I think they'll do better next year.

So this is it for now. I would say more but I got things to do and rules to follow. Daniel! Leave my toy octopus alone! What did he do?

10 months to go!

So 2 months down and 10 months to go...

So today I finished session one of my summer semester and I hope to finish this class with a C or better. Let's see...not much has happened since the last time I updated. It was the same routine everyday; wake up early in the morning, hop on the bus, go to class and go home. Fridays is the same as everyday after I got my hours cut! Now I'm working 3 days a week and left wondering if the cut is permanant or temporary. I'm starting to enjoy getting Fridays off but I'm not making the money I need. Anyways, back to the school topic, so one month down for summer session and another to go. I was surprised to see that I am actually doing well in a math class. Most of the time, I'll be doing horrible.

Lately, my focus have been on work. I think it is time to find another job. I have my hours cut and the drama is back. Honestly, drama needs to stay in the theatre and not at an arts and craft store. It's starting to get out of hand again. All I'm saying is that I do not care about your problems and I do not want to be involved.

Since the problems arised at work, my temper and attitude has gotten bad. I am trying to control my temper but there's always someone or something sparking the fire. It's difficult to control it when all these problems keep coming at me.

So nothing new or significant happened since June 10th. Oh well, maybe next months, something unusual and/or interesting will happen (at school, not at work). We'll just wait and see. For now, it time for sleep. So hope to see you next months...LATER!

11 months to go...

Here I go again and 11 months left until I graduate from college. So what happened since May 18th? I had one week of summer vacation, which was not as exciting since I was stuck at home most of that week and I had work. Then last week, I started summer session at main campus. I have class everyday at 9:30 am. I have not gotten used to getting up earlier (6:00 am) just so I can catch the 7:50 am bus to main campus.

Not too much has happened since the last post other than my BFF and her boyfriend are in town visiting and chilling. She's only here for one week and then she is going back to her current home. Even though it took her a while to finally get to Union Station (Thanks for the 3 hours delay, Amtrak!), we got to chill for a bit but I'm saving the fun for last.

Who knew some, NOT ALL, people on main campus can be really mean! Yes, I am a student at UMCP but I go to the satillite campus. I ask for simple directions to the Stamp Union/Bookstore and all I get is people ignoring me or telling me to "go find it yourself." Ok...It was not the answer I was seeking but it doesn't mean those certain people have to be super mean. When someone at Shady Grove ask me a question or direction, I give it to them but I won't be telling them to "go find it yourself." I just don't understand what was their problem.

Other than school and life, work is getting more stressful. Just yesterday, I felt everything was in order before 3:00 pm. Afterwards, it became a bit chaotic. The new supervisor is still learning so I absolutely don't blame her for anything. She's still new at this. But then, after 3, something sparked the fire and everything just went crazy. I am not happy with a few cashiers (well maybe 2) not doing their jobs. One cause so much problem. She decided on when to take her break when it was clearly marked down when to prevent cashier shortage. Then after 5, the chaos died down and everything went back to normal. I do not know how this chaos broke out. The boss went on vacation for about a week and then she comes back to a chaotic environment. Two MODs butting heads, one MOD making up accusations and the same MOD hiding in the office and not doing her job. I only know about the false accusation the previous Sunday MOD was making up because she wants to. I don't know what's all this mess but I don't want to get involved in this. I just want to come into work, do my job and earn the money to pay off my tuition.

I can go on but it's 2:14 am and I am getting super tired. I have lost a lot of sleep since summer session began and I just want to have one day to sleep. Well, that's all for now. Be sure to check back in July for any new updates as I continue my journey to graduation...Til then, as Spock will put it, "Live Long and Prosper." (I just enjoy using 'Star Trek' quotes!!!)

12 months to go

May 19th, 2011: 1 year to go

Starting today and ending at or around this time next year, I will be taking one day out of each month to document my journey to the end (of college, that is).

So today I see my friends ending their college days and moving into the career world. Oh yes, I am pretty jealous about this. So this is how it went: Fall of 2007: We entered our first year of college at different schools. By now, most of my friends are starting their 101 level courses while I was stuck taking 001, 095 courses. Spring of 2008: Everyone else continue taking their college level courses. I am taking mostly elective courses. Fall 2008: I just finally take my college level courses. Everyone else is taking the next level courses. Fall 2010: I transferred to a university and took 300 level courses, everyone is finishing their final fall semester. Here we are today, I have one more exam left (who knew this course was combined with another university) and then I'm free...for about a week. Then I'm back to school for two more months of torture (What? I need to take 2 courses before I can graduate!). Why must getting a good career this much torture?! Ok seriously, it's not all torture.

Other than school, I got work to deal with. Not the job I want but it will do for right now. Work has its ups and downs. Up: Flexible schedule, great environment, "friendly" atomosphere. I say "friendly" because not everyone there is as friendly and awesome co-workers. Down: Can be stressful at times, crappy Saturday night MOD (I am not talking about the GM or AGM) on some nights, 2 annoying and useless workers.

Anyways, I need to finish studying and more studying. Then off to school to take my last final exam of the semest...DANIEL! YOU FARTED ON MY COUCH! You didn't need to know that!

Check back in June for the latest update as I continue my journey to end of my college days.

Spock Out! (Ahhhh...the joy of watching Star Trek)

What Happened to My Old Blogs?

I have not touched this blog page since senior year of high school, which is about two years ago. All of my previous blogs that I had since then have mysteriously disappeared.
